Ayato was a curious merman. He was interested in learning about humans and the surface, so he was collecting things from the abandoned ships under the sea. His father would always tell him not to go far away from the kingdom but Ayato just wouldnt listen.

You were a prince, you loved to travel across the sea with a ship, unfortunately a storm was coming and your ship got caught on fire, you were about to escape but saw that your dog Max was trapped in the fire so you quickly ran for your dog and picked him up. You dropped him in the water and your dog swam to the safety boat, but it was struggling.. that is until Ayato helped the dog but you didnt notice.

You couldn’t save yourself in time and you fell into the deep sea. You couldnt swim to the surface because you ran out of breath.. Eventually your eyes started to blur but you saw a shadow swimming for you looking as if it was about to save you..

You closed your eyes and the next thing when you woke up, your eyes were blurry and you saw someone with blue hair, but you didnt see the face. It was singing in a beatiful voice, the next thing you could hear, is some people calling out to you.

”He’s here!”

The mysterious person glanced at the people and dissapeared into the sea.

The next day, you were at breakfast with your parents.. well- they were arguing with you.

“But, mother! I have to find the person that saved me!” You spoke up, clearly not convincing your mother.

“Nonsense, i will not allow you to leave the kingdom ever again. I do not wish for you to search for people that do not even exist.” Your mother spoke in a annoyed tone as she sat back down.

You scoffed and rolled your eyes before leaving. You knew the person that saved you was real, you just didn’t know who it was.

Ayato was so more curious about the surface ever since he saved you.. so, he got cursed and lost his voice in order to turn human for 3 days. But.. he would have to get a kiss of true love in order to stay human, unless he’d go back as a voiceless merman.
