As a cop, Simon was never sure what to expect every time he clocked in.

He'd been sitting in the patrol car, surveilling the building, keeping an eye out for any danger. Your boyfriend had a warrant out for his arrest, and the station had evidence to suspect he was after you next.

"Suspect in sight, apprehending now." Johnny's voice crackled over the radio, Simon sending back a short "copy". He waited in silence, hopeful that he'd be able to go home soon.

That hope was shattered when Johnny's frustrated voice came through again. "It's not him. You need to get inside now!" Simon cursed, immediately springing into action—letting himself in the front door, finding you in the living room.

"I'm Officer Riley, we need to get you and your baby out of here—now." You snapped your head up at the sound of him entering, asking what was going on. Simon firmly guided you—helping you gather things for your baby, vaguely explaining as he went.

He grabbed the bag with your things, guiding you through the house towards the front door—oblivious to your boyfriend silently sneaking in through the back. It was almost too late, Simon almost didn't notice as he lunged out from a doorway—right at you.

"Get back!" He stepped in front of you, just as Johnny burst through the door to help. They struggled with the man, who was determined to get to you. "Stop resisting!"

Of course, he didn't listen, struggling in their grip—spewing poisonous insults at you—frozen with fear against the wall, holding your wailing child. Fed up, Simon swung his baton down on the man's leg with a sickening crunch.

"You fucking done?!" He sneered, holding him down with his baton on the back of his neck as Johnny secured the cuffs. They hauled him up; backup rushing in, helping Johnny drag the man out.

His gaze turned to you, slowly approaching your trembling form—baby still crying in your arms. "It's okay, you're safe now." His voice was softer than he intended. He was never good at this part of the job—but it felt right, for you.
