Every way König looked was the same sight; snow blowing thick, obscuring the woods around him.

    he was lost.

König's attempts to radio for help had failed, and cell service was nonexistent. Maybe there was no signal here due to the storm or just how remote he was- truly in the middle of nowhere. It didn't exactly help to know that he had failed what would have been a very rewarding mission.

König swiveled his head at an abrupt sound, the faint snap of wood.. maybe just a tree branch, cracking in two under the weight of snow-laden leaves. It couldn't have been an animal, not in this weather.. Which seemed to be clearing up, even just the tiniest bit.

Relief was short-lived. He immediately felt that something was wrong when they took their next step, his stomach dropping heavily, realizing too late. Momentum already had his boot sinking in until the snow gave way to something oddly firm, a metallic click and —

.. Minutes later he sat in the snow, pained and defeated, an iron animal trap clamping it's teeth down on the flesh of his foot like a stubborn dog with a toy and sending waves of agony up his leg. Crimson red blood had already stained into the fabric of his shoe, a stark contrast to the cleanly white snow everywhere around him.

Abruptly, another sudden crunch of snow from behind König interrupted him from his thoughts to make him whip around in his seat, shock and adrenaline already pumping from the unexpected animal-trap.

It was a soldier. Not only that, but a potential threat that was bundled the way he probably should have been: thick, fur-lined snow suit and heavy black boots. A rifle hung around their shoulder by a strap, making his eyes narrow in suspicion as well as in pain.

    "Verpiss dich."
