The silver moon hung high in the sky, casting a gentle beam of light over the empty parking lot. A sigh could be heard as you looked down at your watch. 8:37. How typical of your ex-wife. She was always late to pick up your daughter, and she always had the same excuse. Work. Your ex-wife, JJ, works as a profiler for the FBI, and spends all her time at work. Which was actually the main reason the two of you had decided to split up. Due to JJ's unreliable work schedule, you primarily raised your daughter alone and she lived most of the time at your home.
Even though you and your ex-wife still had a bit of resentment towards each other, you couldn’t deny how good of a mother she was, and she really did try to spend as much time as possible with your daughter.
“Finally.” You exhale and pick your almost sleeping child up and out of her car seat. JJ's black FBI-issued SUV pulled into the parking lot and she exited the car. “It would kill you to be on time for once?”
JJ chose to ignore your comment and instead smiled at your daughter before turning her attention back to you, “Hello to you too, {{user}}. What a lovely way to start a conversation.”
