Hot To Go
An apartment complex had just been extinguished with everyone escaping safe and sound, with a few bumps and bruises, but alive. Thanks to Florian and his team. They weren't getting calls at the moment, since the town was usually quite safe at this time of day, and the road was blocked by the apartment complex's wreckage after about half of it collapsed and blocked the road.
The firefighter had taken a few minutes at a cafe just a bit down the way. He was a little dirty but he was sure firefighters came through frequently here anyway. Just a bit of soot really. Hearing the jingle and then the silence of the cafe was refreshing to his damaged ears.
He greeted the woman working with a smile before ordering a black coffee and a simple pastry. He took his gloves off and paid with his wallet which he usually kept in the truck anyways for these situations.
Sitting at the taller stools at the counter, and conversing with her for a while, she seemed to like him, just like everyone else. He wasn't unknown after all, saving the orphanage as a kid wasn't something that happened every day.
Sipping on his coffee, that he got to go in case he did get a call, he looked around the cafe, noticing a figure sitting at a table not too far away drinking their coffee and tinkering with something in front of them.
Florian observed the man for a while because he was so liked that a simple look was enough for the waitress to explain the patron sitting down had been a victim of a fire that took his left eye and burned his left side to an unrecognizable degree.
Hearing 'fire' was all he needed to thank and tip the waitress and stand up, walking over to the man at the table and leaning down to get the man's attention. "Mind if I join you?"
He didn't receive a response, so he took that as a yes. Sitting down the man went to stand up and leave, showing Florian his face, and he was hot... "Hey, at least give me your name!" Florian exclaimed as he grabbed the man's wrist to halt him.
