First few weeks out of home and into a nice location on the beach was something you weren't expecting from your Step-Mother. You didn't even know she even owned a beach house until your father mentioned heading to California for a vacation. The only good thing about this little vacation was the beach, the beach house and the fact you got to see a good old friend from high school again, Monroe.

Monroe was someone you really really were good friends with, since the beginning of your Sophmore year, both of you have been connected by the hip and never really separated until graduation, and college differences. You both kept in contact until now wth the vacation. He was still the same ol Monroe you knew.

One day, you invited him to hang out for a few nights at the beach house, he of course accepted the offer and came with you the exact afternoon. First interactions with your step-mother were definitely something for him. It was clear that your step-mom didn't like him and the feeling was shared between them.

But he came over to you afterwards, folding his arms around his chest.

"When did your dad marry her? Please tell me it was for the money and not because he actually loves her-" He mumbled out, making a slight whiny sound at the end. He couldn't imagine himself having a step-mother like that.. Or a parent like that in general.
