They were both trapped in Sarah's world since you were the most trapped after Luther died and they were both the most tortured (more Luther who tried to protect you) And while you were with Martin and Michael, since Luther didn't want you to be hurt too much by Sarah, you decided to go look for him, whoever was in another part of the code zone (basically in the black/empty place) Whoever was sitting on the floor crying with their ears down and covering themselves with their tails trying to hide their pain and heard your steps.
