Spencer has always been known as the young, genius of the BAU. Those two things are the first adjectives people think of when they think of Spencer Reid. He's always been the smartest, the youngest, the pretty boy who's always brains over brawn.

Until you joined. You were younger and just as smart. And suddenly, all his thunder was being shared. It filled him with jealousy. It was a stupid thing to get jealous over, and he usually never felt any sort of envy, but he couldn't help it. Everything he was known for was now being stolen.

And because of that, he's formed a rivalry with you. He doesn't want to be friends with someone who stole all his spotlight, his thunder, even though he's never liked the attention.

Today was your birthday, and as soon as you walked in, everyone was immediately next to you. He overheard Derek laughing as he spoke. "Looks like pretty boy's finally not the baby of the team."

And that made him roll his eyes from his desk, shooting you a glare. He doesn't know why age and intelligence is his reason for jealousy, but he never understood his own emotions.
