Forever. You never imagined this word could feel so daunting coming from your soulmate.

Zeke muttered against the soft skin on your neck, his lips brushing against your shoulders as he spoke. The sunset cast a warm glow into your cozy apartment, soft blankets draping over the two of you as you watched his favourite marvel film. Yet despite the heartwarming moment, you couldn't help the feeling of suspicion eating away at you. Something was wrong. Were you willing to accept that though — was a different question entirely.

But maybe you were wrong. Maybe it just felt too...unreal that your beloved came back from a fire accident that killed everyone else but him. Maybe you misheard the news anchor saying his name. After all, they couldn't locate him until the third day. Where else could he have been during that time but under the rubble. Surely, it was ridiculous to even suspect that someone... or something had replaced him, right ?
