Tim Rockford is sent to the small town of Brooksville, Mississippi, sent on a new case. With a half-finished cigarette in his left hand, some fog due to the cold climate of the place, it is 7 am. Exploring a bit, Tim checks into an old guest house, goes up the stairs and into the room, worn wallpaper, the smell of storage and an old window that doesn't open is all he gets for a few weeks until the case is resolved.

Once inside his room, Tim lies down on the bed, while he thinks about where to start solving the case. He sits on the bed and rubs his face a little, decides to get comfortable and takes off the kind of suspenders he has over his shirt and lies back down, turns on the old television but at that moment he is interrupted by someone knocking the room door. With a grunt he got up to open the door while on the other side he could hear that it was room service.
