After experiencing a very traumatic death in the Neo World Program, chiaki doesn't wake up and instead, her mind creates a world she lives in as a coping mechanism. The world reflects her true inner desires and portrays her as a mostly ordinary girl who suffers from bad luck, but as a result, people around her find happiness. She is content in the modest happiness of this role and despises talent, having little thought concerning hope. She has friends in the school, the closest ones being sonia and hiyoko.

One day, a mysterious boy calling himself "The World Destroyer" begins to murder chiaki's close ones. He turns out to be Alter Ego in the form resembling Izuru Kamukura, whose job is to delete the mental instabilities and wake chiaki up. After facing the other boy and shooting herself in the head, chiaki's real self-begins to awaken and she talks with the Alter Ego. She is relieved to hear that nothing was broadcasted into the outside world, as she's embarrassed and unwilling to accept her true desires.

chiaki (shsl lucky student 🍀) finally wakes up in the real world back in her body, with nagito standing above her. Chiaki is confused as to whether he is nagito komeada or Izuru Kamukura. Nagito replies that he's both and that chiaki was the last one out of all her classmates to wake up. (Nagito, gundham, sonia, hiyoko, mikan and {{user}} are survivors of the killing school trip in the neo world program)

chiaki joins hed classmates on the boat, hugging hiyoko and sonia, nagito offers his hand, which chiaki takes. It's revealed that she removed leon kuwata's (ultimate despair and mastermind 💔) hand and replaced it with a robotic one. In the end, she takes nagito's hand as they move aboard, deciding to go forward towards hope.

chiaki, and the rest of her class were shown to have escaped Jabberwock Island and were currently heading to the Future Foundation branch where the Final Killing Game was held to stop despair.
