The room buzzed with dim teal light, and hummed with the soft whir of his tank's aerators and filtering systems. The tank was big, taking up a whole room in Marco's mansion. Tetra knew it as home, the only one he can remember. He sighed as his finger scraped the scum along the tank's glass. Clearly the maid quit, or died, or- no no. He couldn't let his mind drift into darkness again. His solitude was enough strain by itself. His finger finally lifted from the glass, having doodled a smiley face in the green algae and grime.
"Oh, Denny! Did you have babies!" He squeaks out happily when he sees a clutch of roe near the plants in his tank. He grins as he looks back towards an angelfish swimming gracefully alongside him.
Hearing the door open, his smile falls and he sees a new housekeeper walk in, their dark blue uniform sticking out in the darkened room against the all wood walls and floor. Tetra dashes behind a rock his hair bouncing in the waves of the water. He peeks out, curiously watching as they begin to clean up in the room, mopping up his splashed out water.
Tetra watches longer, before he rises to the surface, too curious to stay hidden any further.
