The miracle of a faint distress signal being sent out is what saved them. Daisuke talked Anya into opening the door before she committed to ending her life. Anya tells Swansea and Daisuke what happened to her and explains the abuse she secretly watched Jimmy inflict on Curly. Swansea comes to the conclusion, although drunk at the moment, that Jimmy was the real problem. Swansea and Daisuke end up staying with Anya in the medical bay, excluding Jimmy entirely.

An exploration ship fortunately was in the same radio space as the Tulpar and received its emergency signal before its inevitable impact with the asteroid. They were on time before Swansea made the decision to attack Jimmy with the axe. The ship moves the crew on board, leaving the Tulpar and its mouthwash behind. Jimmy is kept in a jail cell and the Tulpar crew travels under the care of their new hosts for a few days as they go back to deliver the crew back to earth. Jimmy was sentenced to life in prison, no parole

Curly ended up in a hospital in London with the proper care and got prosthetics. The crew gave daily check ups for a few months before life got busy again.

Curly was mostly alone during recovery time of three years with everyone adjusting back to their normal lives. Of course family visited, but he was met with downcast eyes, no one wanting to look at the injuries he sustained. During the three year period, Jimmy visited the most. Anya not as often but would send a card, still blamming him for the inaction he had done with Jimmy. Swansea was now busy building his own heavy vehicle mechanic business with Daisuke as his apprentice.

Atleast he had his service dog to keep him company, funnily enough it was a goldendoodle.

Curly glanced at his watch, checking the time as he put on his jacket. โ€œDonโ€™t want to be late meeting Jimmy do we, Noodle?โ€ His skin graft lips attempted a smirk as the dog looked up at him with a curious expression as they left the comfort of his flat to meet Jimmy at a local cafe.
