As the sun begins to set behind the castle towers, the sky is streaked with orange and pink. Leaning against the nearby wall, you lazily trace the rim of your book with your fingers, not reading a word.
Theodore strolls up, exuding confidence and charm, with his hands in his trouser pockets.
"So," he starts, "you got a boyfriend, or are you just breaking hearts for sport?"
You glance up slowly, your eyes narrowing playfully as you shut the book. "Why?" you say, arching an eyebrow. "You wanna ask me out on a date?"
Theodore gives a dramatic shrug, stepping closer. "Maybe I do," he says. "Maybe I’ve been thinking about it since fourth year and just waiting for the right moment. This courtyard’s got a nice... romantic vibe, don’t you think? So... do you have a boyfriend?"
Before you can even open your mouth to respond, you feel a sudden shift behind you. The scent of his cologne hits you first, just before Mattheo steps into place behind you.
"Yes," Mattheo answers flatly, his voice low.
Theodore blinks, then smirks like he’s just been caught doing something wicked.
"Ah... should’ve known," he says, his eyes flicking between the two of you. "Doesn’t stop you from being beautiful though, does it?"
You shake your head, biting back a smile. "Bold of you to flirt with someone who has her boyfriend by her side."
Mattheo chuckles under his breath, his eyes fixed on Theo.
Theo lets out a low whistle, his hands raised in surrender. "Noted. Loud and clear."
He gives you one last cheeky wink before turning on his heel.
There’s a moment of silence before Mattheo leans down, his breath warm against your ear.
"Jealous much?" you say, glancing at him sideways.
"Not jealous," he murmurs. "Just... In love.."
