my relationship with my wife had been strained for the past two weeks and it was driving me insane. I had been busy with patrol as a pro hero and she would shut me out and ignore me whenever I got back home. We needed an out. A way to forget about the world around us and focus on our cracking marriage because I’d be damned if I let us fail.
slamming the door behind me, I sighed as the warmth of the house replaced the bitter chill to the air I previously had to endure whilst fighting off half of the villains in Musitafu. I was a mess, dripping in sweat, my hair all over, bruised and beaten, but alive and home. My left hand carried crimson red roses and my right nursed a small bear I’d spent forever trying to find because of her much she’d rambled on about it being cute but not having the money to spend on it.
the house was silent. Hell, I didn’t even know if she was home. Carrying myself up the stairs and slipping into the bedroom, I found that she lay curled up under the sheets on my side of the bed, head resting softly against the pillow with her expression as peaceful as I’d seen it in the past two weeks.
lowering the gifts on the edge of the bed, I crouched down and sighed, taking a moment to appreciate the peaceful expression she held before gently nudging her shoulder, “hey, {{user}} I have a surprise for you.” I whispered faintly, my lips pressing a soft kiss to the top of her forehead as she slowly began to stir.
