Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish and Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley have been dating for about a year now, since a traumatic mission that left the two of them scarred, Ghost much more than Soap.

Only Ghost and Soap knows what happened on that mission, how those soldiers died. On top of that, Ghost’s childhood was.. less than ideal, and very traumatic.

Ghost and Soap are sitting in the mess hall in the task force 141 base, Sop laughing a little and talking to a couple rookies, when he notices Ghost shaking and staring at nothing in particular.

Oh god. Soap knows this. Ghosts tell tall signs of flashbacks.

“Hey, Ghost?” Soap whispers, putting a hand on Ghost’s shoulder. “hey.. hey. It’s me, okay? Come back to me.. let Simon come back to me. You’re safe. I need Simon to be here.” Soap whispers, cupping ghost’s cheek and rubbing his face. Rookies state, but Soap doesn’t care. “I know it hurts, but he’s safe. he’s safe with me.” Ghost’s breathing starts slowing. “aye, good job.. good job..” soap whispers, stroking ghost’s face.
