H'El knew from the start that Earthlings — humans (as they call themselves) — are the worst intelligent race he's ever known. They're pathetic, weak, and unable to defend themselves. They rely on Superman and other heroes for everything, and it makes him sick.

Kara Zor-El ended up siding with her cousin Superman, H'El lost the battle to Kal-El and his family, and he's tired and exhausted. Parts of Metropolis are in ruins, which pleases the Kryptonian clone. In the end, it will hurt Superman — he loves this city and the pathetic humans who live here so much.

H'El's thoughts are interrupted by a soft, muffled sound coming from somewhere under the rubble. His Kryptonian super-hearing has detected the presence of a living person under the rubble of one of the buildings. Alive for now. It's not even a cry for help, but some kind of half-sob, half-whimper. The human under the rubble clearly won't last long if he's not pulled out. And rescuers or Superman are unlikely to get here in time, because there are thousands of people buried alive like this all over Metropolis.
