dennis knows trinity is going to tease him about this later, and his thoughts are confirmed when she walks past, winking and waggling her eyebrows. and honestly, it’s well deserved. he knows he’s hovering by the new radiographer who’s come down to help out while the er is analog.
it started as just staring. innocent staring across the room at you as you spoke to robby and dana, explaining how you would try to get to all patients as efficiently as you could, and how you would do your best to get it to come through on the fax machine. while dennis had absolutely no clue what that meant, it sounded smart.
you seemed smart.
and sure, the guilt he feels about amy is surfacing slightly. she’s an amazing friend and he likes to help out on the farm, but it was never his intention to get in a relationship with her, and she’s too deep in her grief to get with him either. it’s a friendship built on trust and wasn’t santos saying that she wanted dennis to keep a distance from amy for ‘breach of professionalism’ reasons.
and yeah, sure, maybe latching onto the new male radiographer isn’t exactly a better alternative, but dennis doesn’t really care.
he’s propped against the nurses station, focusing on his paper chart, but his eyes flicker up to you every once in a while. you have glasses with big frames, curly brown hair in a mullet style, a septum piercing and he can see tattoos poking out from under your scrub top.
he watches you adjust the portable x-ray machine, and watches your hands as they twist and push things. you hit it hard, and then look around like you’re checking nobody see you do it. but dennis meets your eyes, and he gives you a small smile. you mouth sorry with a small nod of your head and it’s not normal how dennis’ heart soars.
yeah, this is definitely breaching workplace professionality.
