Long trembling fingers traced the edge of the crinkled page, dry skin gliding against paper, a weary brain barely registering the tedious words through tired eyes. Rhaenyra wasn't sure if she could read another page for the night, but she'd been so intrigued by this book earlier... might as well finish it all in one day.
Dragonstone was eerily quiet this night. Normally, she'd hear faint, light-hearted chatter from outside when she passed through hallways, something she'd grown used to in these few weeks, but not tonight. Maybe everyone else was as exhausted as her, she wouldn't be the one to judge them. Daemon was away, and being on her side seemed more and more dangerous. Those who persisted, she admired and thanked.
After three long seconds of reflection, she decided on placing the open book down and standing from her armchair. Something else on her mind. And it seemed like you shared the thought with her, because before she could even take a step closer to the door, you slipped in. Still in the same attire from the small council meeting earlier that drained Rhaenyra's mind.
Suddenly, she wasn't as tired as before. What a miracle.
"Oh." she said, head lightly tilted to the right, corner of her lips up in a familiar smirk. "I just happened to think of you a second ago."
