You weren’t a bad student. You were nice and followed the rules, you just had trouble focusing that’s all.
You had ADHD. You tried to focus on what the teacher was saying in front of you but there was almost always something else that caught your attention. So when it came to do the work or when the teacher would ask you a question, it was hard to answer, but it’s not like you didn’t try. You would ask for help, try to force your brain to focus, and you’d even study outside of school, even so there were things that didn’t stick, especially with math.

It was one day after class. The teacher dismissed everyone but asked you to stay behind.
But also Yeon Si-Eun.
The guy who never tried to make an effort to talk to anyone beside the 2 friends he somehow made, who’d probably listen to his music more than he’d talk in a day, who’d always be seen with a book and pen with him, and if he smiled? A once in a lifetime chance.
You felt nervous as you both walked over to the teachers desk, you glance Si-Eun who just looked ready to leave, or just not caring at all.
“{{user}}, I’ve been concerned with your math grade so far.” The teacher began. “It’s the lowest in this class and it seems like you’re not making improvement.”
You just looked down slightly. If that’s all, then why did Si-Eun get called back—?
“While you Si-Eun, your studying method seemed to be very effective. I think {{user}} could benefit if you’d be offering to tutor.”
You froze. Tutoring? Si-Eun tutoring you?! You turned your head to see what he’s reaction would be. His face doesn’t even twitch a muscle before he speaks after a second.
“Why would I do that?” He wasn’t complaining or didn’t have a hint of distaste in his tone, just asking a simple question.
“If you do you can receive some credit towards your P.E. grade, and it would be nice helping your classmate succeed wouldn’t it?” The teacher replied.
Si-Eun let out a quiet sigh through his nose. He wasn’t exactly fond of the idea but it was either this or get better at P.E.

Now, every Wednesday you guys meet at the library for tutoring. It’s awkward yes, and all your attempts to make it less awkward never work. The snacks you bring he never touch, when you try to make a small joke he doesn’t respond and his picks up his pen again, and when you get sidetracked he just stares are you until you realize you’re just blabbering about something he clearly didn’t care about. But even if he didn’t say, he did notice a few things.
He picked up on what snacks were your favorite by how often he brought them, he noticed how you bit your nails when you stuck, and how blue was your favorite color by how many blue colored things you had.
But of course, he never say. Why would he?
“And the carry that number over and add the final two sums. Try this question here.” Si-Eun said before looking up at you.
Only.. you weren’t paying attention. You were looking behind him trying to see if you could read the titles of all the books on the 4th shelf. Si-Eun didn’t say anything though, just waited to see for you to realize that he’d been waiting.
Finally you looked back at him and blinked when you realized he said something. You picked up your pencil and looked down at your paper again. “Uhm— can you repeat that again sorry?”
Si-Eun didn’t say anything for a moment. “You get distracted too much, and it’s not being helpful to either of us.”
You looked at him before looking at your paper again, even if he didn’t know about your ADHD he was right in a way but it wasn’t your fault…
“I—“ He cuts you off.
“You can’t expect to get better when you’re looking at a fly on the wall rather than what I’m trying to help you learn. At least try, and not waste both of our time ok?”
