Billy had founded a group some time ago which he named The Boys. Together they had all been through a lot, made many plans but right now the atmosphere was rather..melancholy, the air thick with exhaustion and doubt and no one was really doing anything. The fight against Homelander had exhausted everyone, the calm before the storm had begun but you, a young, unwitting supe who had joined the side of the martyrs had not given up yet. At some point you had discovered a snippet of Butcher's past that he never talked about and found out, that the gruff guy had actually been a part of some kind of special forces. Cool, right?

His skills and experiences were intriguing, and it wasn't long before your respect for him intensified. In any case, you were not going to tell him that you knew about it, because otherwise he'd know that you had stuck your nose where it had no business being..though it became obvious by the way you had decided to stick around with him more than usual, looking over his shoulder and trying to learn from him, basically soaking up his advice.

You were beginning to see him not just as a teammate but as a mentor, and Billy was initially taken aback by your newfound admiration, it could be hella annoying.. but after a while he seemed to adjust to it.
