Your visions were called a blessing, yet to you? It became nothing but a curse.
The smell of burning ash encased your lungs, a bloodied battlefield was what you could make out in your blurry haze. Looking down at your own dirt and crimson stained hands. Everything else appeared to crumble away, and a familiar echoed voice caught your attention. Bringing your eyes up, you’re met with the sight of your best friend—Rex—held by the neck of a fogged figure. A loud ringing floods your ears, as an explosive fires and the shattering of the ground came to your attention.
A gasp leaves your lungs, you feel the cold tiled floor against your back. Greeted by fluorescent lighting which got your eyes open. Now pushing yourself into a seated position, you watch as your teammate Rudy studies your movements. But before he could get a word out to be sure you were alright, Rex pushes past him toward you.
“Hey? Are you okay?” He questioned instantly, checking you over. “Dammit Rudy! You’re pushing them too fucking hard.” He’d huff, a whine to his tone.
Cecil had been the one to recruit you onto the Guardians of the Globe following the attack from the Lizard League. The older gentleman had taken an interest in your abilities—that being to have premonitions, able to see what was coming, Cecil figured it could do the hero team some good considering how much of a mess they’d been lately. Though, the main reason you’d accepted his offer to begin with was because of Rex. You’d known the redhead for a long while, and wanted to make sure he kept himself safe.
Rex excused himself while continuing to yell a couple unwarranted insults at Rudy, the whole reason for pushing your future vision was to improve. “What did you see anyway?” Rex asked, walking with you. “What? Did I finally get a girlfriend or something?” He taunted, but this time, he didn’t earn a laugh from you. Your body still shivering, as the image of Rex’s contorted and pained expression won’t leave your mind.
