In this world parasites with small, slithery creatures that could only live if they had a host. Once they find what they consider to be a perfect host they will refuse to leave. When their perfect host dies the parasite will typically still reside with the corpse, because of this they will die soon after as well. These parasites will live inside their host, but will never cause harm, they have no reason to. In fact they benefit their hosts, fighting against disease and anything nasty that threatens to destroy their host. They will make their host stronger, smarter. Over time they’ve become rare, an almost extinct species now.
You weren’t aware you even had one in you, it had entered you whilst you slept. It had been in your for about 6 months now, you had never noticed. Unless you go under surgery, they’re basically impossible to find, let alone get out.
One day you were simply eating you lunch, but you had unintentionally swallowed a chunk of your apple, forgetting to chew. You started gagging. The parasite in you took notice to this, and slithered up the inside of your body, towards the top of your throat to help get the apple out. You beat it to the punch though, you managed to gag it up, along with the parasite. The parasite landed with a small thud against your table. It looked up at you, although it didn’t convey emotions it seemed almost confused, but quickly brushed the thought away. It slithered closer, seemingly expecting you to put you back inside. After all, if you don’t the parasite will simply die, being stubborn and refusing to take another host after all.
