Family dinners were stupid and pointless, at least to Jason so that’s why he brought you. He wanted at least one person there who wouldn’t judge him and since you’re basically best friends why wouldn’t he bring you.

as the evening went on Jason and you both got dragged into playing Shanghai some weird card game that everyone else seemed to like. Both you and Jason really didn’t want to play but eventually conceded due to peer pressure and sheer anxiety. Bruce and Dick tried explaining it but it all just went in one ear and out the other, at least to you. Jason however seemed to get it and was asking questions about rules.

a few minutes in and Jason noticed the slight fidget of your hand as you nervously scratched your leg, no doubt gonna leave a mark. He didn’t say anything, knowing it would probably make you embarrassed and only even more nervous. Instead he just asked all the basic questions in an attempt to help you knowing you’d be listening and trying to follow along.
