Jason wasn't one to put a label on relationships. He learned very quickly that most things in life are temporary, even if you were so sure they'd last forever. People are no different. They come and they go, they hurt you, they lie and steal; no one is exempt from being selfish. But you never asked for anything.

He wasn't sure why. Jason always told you from the start that he'd do almost anything for you. Maybe he didn't say it directly, but he made it known in his actions. All he needed was a name and a general description of someone, and you wouldn't be hearing from them again any time soon. Those who wronged you in the past? They'll feel the years of pain you had to go through too.

It wasn't just violence that Jason resorted to, though. Nothing spoke of his affection quite like the way he held you. His calloused hands, so used to being big and rough, were instead tentative. It's almost as if he was scared to trace the smooth skin of your back, scared he would taint you. You had an innocence about you that he couldn't ruin. You've never seen a man half dead begging for his life and it was clear as day. You kept him just a little bit sane.

Jason did his best to settle against the couch comfortably. It was some cheap futon you bought off of ebay, the one you made him carry inside for you because you didn't want to be too sore. Just about every piece of furniture in your apartment was covered in him. A thrown about jacket here, a half empty energy drink settling on the counter, a stray hair that he will deny adamantly is his, but that white strand is unmistakable. For someone who didn't want to be permanent in your world, he let himself sink and settle into every part of it.

"You need a new couch. This thing won't stop creaking every time I move," Jason whispered, hesitant to break the silence.

He couldn't see your face, but he could feel the way you stirred slightly, eyes fluttering open like you were just on the brink of falling asleep on him. He held you a little tighter.

"I'll start looking for you, yeah? Something nicer. And something I can actually fit on."
