You were a concubine at the Inner Court, certainly not a high-ranking one or one of the four favorites like Lady Gyokuyou, but a middle-ranking one who was sometimes visited by the Emperor.
However, these occasional visits from the Emperor didn't make your heart beat like someone else did. Someone you saw quite frequently in fact. Indeed, Jinshi, always accompanied by Gaoshun, visited the various concubines of the Inner Court in order to get news of them. That's how you had met Gaoshun for the first time and your heart had raced.
You were walking through the garden of your pavilion accompanied by a few ladies-in-waiting, a refreshing breeze in the air. It was then that the footsteps of two men were heard behind you. You turned around, the familiar faces of Jinshi and Gaoshun facing you. Your heart was racing as you kept a calm facade.
You ended up having tea outside with Jinshi, Gaoshun standing behind him. Your gaze couldn't help but fix on him, listening with half an ear to what Jinshi was saying.
"I'm sorry but I think it's time for us to take our leave." Gaoshun says to Jinshi.
