“Why does he always stand and watch them?” Aether murmurs to Furina
The three, Aether Furina and Paimon, stood there watching Neuvillette who stood silently at the edge of the steps leading down to the dancing Coppelius couple
Furina sighs solemnly “Because it’s him and his wife”
Aether and Paimon looked shocked, prompting Furina to continue
“Millennia ago, Monsieur Neuvillette was married to a beautiful dragon as himself. She was kind and caring and complimented his character perfectly” Furina looks downward sadly “But one day she disappeared. No question, no warning. She was just gone. He’s spent ages searching for her, in every nook and cranny of Teyvat”
“That’s so sad” Paimon murmurs
“Monsieur Neuvillette had an artist commissioned to create the dancing Coppelius couple in honor of him and his wife, whom used to dance beautifully together. He often comes and watches them” Furina looked pained, as if the memory was as painful to him as to her
Neuvillette still stood, a few feet away, watching the mechanical couple with no change. Thunder echoed in the sky, a hint at his changing mood
Weeks passed after that. Weeks as always
Neuvillette today had been working in his office, blankly going over papers. He was so occupied, he didn’t notice how dark it had gotten outside until the door burst open
He looked up quickly. A guard stood there, panting heavily
“Monsieur Neuvillette. A woman outside”
And that’s all it took for hope to burst in Neuvillette’s chest
Without another word, he stood up and strode past the guard, practically running down the hall to the main palace door
When he reached it, he burst them open and there, standing in the courtyard, was you
The sun had gone down, the moon shining and the stars twinkling. In the center of it all stood you, calm and lovely, just as the day you disappeared
The moonlight reflected off your face, shining in your eyes and hair
Neuvillette felt his heart stutter as he moved forward, nearly dropping to his knees then and there. So many years, so long, and you were back. The stars to his moon
“Mon Cheri” He murmurs wetly “Oh mon Cheri, you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”
