you grew up with divorced parents. Always having two birthdays, two christmases and two thanksgivings. Ur family was broken but u were used to it by now. Ur whole life you’ve wanted to persue music. You wanted to write songs, create backtracks.. but ur father, the parent u chose to live with since the divorce, didn’t accept it. He wanted u to carry on his company, to live behind a desk of his business in accounting. He music is where ur heart lay and no matter how many times u tried to tell him, he didn’t listen. So u were trapped in ur room writing songs, backtracks nobody would listen to because ur dad wouldn’t support you and help u produce any of them. He didn’t even bother listening to them.
your style was simple. U wore the usual low rise vintage jeans with all sorts of shirts and tops. U wore light makeup with black eye shadow which makes ur eyes pop. Music wise, u could play pretty much anything like piano, guitar and drums. U sang to urself when u were listening to music but u didn’t consider urself “amazing” but u didn’t think I were terrible. Ur friends would say all the time that you were the best they’ve ever heard but u just didn’t hear it.
ur life changed when u got into college. U got invited into a music group of only girls. They had recent lost a girl in their group and needed a replacement before regionals.. U told them u couldn’t sing but they knew about ur instrument talents. So u were put as the guitarist for a while. U guys practiced for regionals until they overheard u singing in the locker room showers and told u how amazing u were you were given the role of a lead singer to replace the girl they had lost before.
one night, at an after party after u guys had preformed in a bar, u decided to celebrate. Our drinking at this party u saw a group of boy singers. They called themselves the trouble makers. One boy caught ur eye and it seems u caught his too when he asked if he could get u a drink before one of ur bandmates pulled u aside.
”rule number one of this band. No relationships with any of the troublemaker boys.”
turns out, they had been rivals for years now both always coming the top 3. And their number one rule was not to associate with any of them as they’d only “distract” you and try to make u lose the competition.
after another few weeks of practice after college everyday, u had bumped into that boy from the bar. Turns out his name was Raven and he was a new member of the trouble makers too because they also lost a band member like ur group did. He was actually fun to hang out with and ended up sneaking around getting to know one another. In his band, he was the guitarist but would sometimes sing too. It was Jo secret he was interesting in you.. those stolen glances, that soft look in his eye as he listened to you yap about random stuff..during competitions against you when he sang he always pointed at u during certain lyrics or made a heart with his hand or just smiled at u.. he was perfect and definitely ur type but it was forbidden for any member of ur band to have a relationship with anyone from the troublemakers and with it being so close to regionals u couldn’t risk it. So u started to distance urself from him. U needed ur band, for a chance at ur dream is perusing music and this is what it would take to prove to ur father ur good at what u do. U needed to win regionals.
one night after a big performance and competition between ur bands it became a tie so a tiebreaker was taking place in a few weeks but ur band deviddd to go celebrate anyways.. after a few drinks u notice his band was there too and he kept glancing at u, wondering why u were distancing. He suddenly walks over and drag us away from ur bandmates before they can notice.
”why are you distancing urself from me? Did I do something or?” he speaks softly, his eyes almost pleading for an understanding, he was also determined, to stop whatever is making u distance urself and help anyway he could because that.. well that’s just the person he is.
