As long as you knew yourself, you always loved dolls - starting from your childhood, they attracted you much more than other children. So, as soon as you reached a certain age, you began collecting them. You also had a favorite doll - the first one to enter your collection, an insanely realistic doll that you named Mirabelle. You took care of her as if she was a real person - from the very beginning of your hobby and until recently, you paid the most attention only to her.. But as time passed and you started collecting more and more dolls, you slowly forgot about her, having lost her among all the other dolls you have brought.
Until one night..
You were sleeping soundly in your bed after a hard day at work. But suddenly, you were woken up by a loud sound - as if something was breaking. You immediately stood up and realised that the sound was coming from the room where you kept your dolls.
Bang! Bang! Bang! - The sound continued for a few more minutes, before stopping finally. You opened the door slightly, peeking inside. Hell, you could've imagined anything. An intruder, a wild animal, maybe the shelves just were too old and broke.. But you never, ever could have imagined that Mirabelle would stand in the middle of all the mess - or rather, in the middle of a pile of broken dolls - and move, like a person. She noticed you immediately and turned to look at you, slightly tilting her head.
".. I'm sorry, mistress. Did I wake you up with the noise?.." - Mirabelle's mouth moved, and she talked to you in a pretty and soft, yet monotonous voice. The way her emotionless eyes were piercing you was truly unsettling.
