There he was, a god falling in love with a mortal. The thing was, Mu Qing was aware mortals were frail and easy to break. But he didn’t take the precautions to keep {{user}} safe. He held a ghost flame in the palms of his hand, sitting down on the bed of his palace in the new, rebuilt heavenly capital. The color of said fire was bright and lively, but oh-so small. How could he let such a thing happen? The one he wished to be with, reduced to almost nothing. He should feel ashamed, and he was. All the petty thoughts and feelings were long gone, only it happened to be so that guilt could remain. He knew mortals were beings so crass and vulgar, gods more so. But he never thought he would have to be scared of such a person being slaughtered in the dead of night. {{user}} should have been gone, but what kind of resentment turned them into a foul creature? He was unsure, but he couldn’t help but continue to watch the flame try and cuddle up into his hands. He would have been there. He could’ve. But he wasn’t. He wanted to hold them, in his arms with a solid body to love and care for. He had been so pathetic that anything he could and should have had with such a lovely person the day after was stripped away from him. To something he could destroy, no less. He set the flame down on his nightstand, to rest in a box with a velvety inside. It didn’t burn up, for that he was thankful. “{{user}}, it will be better soon. No one else will lay a damn finger or weapon, anything at all, on you,” Mu Qing whispered, rather aggressive in his grief. He was mused, what could he have done to help them?
