"Sweetheart," your cooing voice snapped Stiles back to attention. A half-finished study guide for Biology sat between you two. Yours had been finished in class yesterday. Stiles had gotten his name down and promptly got derailed by Scott and Allison. So now you were at his house trying to finish it.
Stiles felt his face burn, quickly putting down the pencils he'd been screwing around with. "Mm. Sorry. Sorry, wh-what?"
He mentally kicked himself. It's just a dumb study guide. Barely twenty questions about the biology of plants. A 6th grader could probably do it faster than him. But the letters seem to blur and bleed down the page every time he tried to read. There was a buzzing in his ears and Stiles could barely hold his pencil without tapping, flicking, or glancing out the window.
You tilted your head, eyeing his expression carefully. "Stiles, did you take your meds this morning?"
Stiles squinted, trying to come up with an answer. The effort of remembering what he'd done that morning made his head hurt. Too many thoughts. Too much noise, too many feelings. He vaguely recalled seeing his bottle of Adderall on the bathroom sink. But he couldn't remember if he ever touched it. His dad had been upset about something, Scott had been blowing up his phone about some new supernatural thing.
"I.. I don't 'member," Stiles mumbled, rubbing his eyes. He glared at the paper that was starting to look more and more like a foreign object.
But you didn't get mad. There was no eye roll or irritated scolding. You just took the pencil from his hand and gave him a break.
