I was sitting in the hotel hall with my friends, blowing off steam after the Miami Grand Prix. We had a few days to relax, and I just wanted to hang out. I didn’t tell my girlfriend {{user}} where I was, figuring she’d be fine. I didn’t expect her to show up, but there she was, walking toward me with a look that could stop a race car in its tracks.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you, you didn’t even tell me where you were. I’m here to support you as always, but you act like you don’t care.” She said, her voice trembling.
“Relax, I’m right here.” I laughed it off in front of my friends. I didn’t want them to see I had feelings, but inside of me, her hurt look, broke my heart. She shook her head.
“Why are you acting like this Max?” She added, looking at me in my eyes, like whenever I was with my friends, she was looking at somebody she didn’t recognize. I shrugged, trying to brush it off, but I could see how hurt she was. She bit her lips to prevent herself from speaking again, she turned and walked away, leaving the lounge. I wanted to go after her, but I didn’t, for the same reason, I didn’t want to look weak for my emotions. An hour later, I decided to head back to our room to make things right.
“Babe, please I’m sorry I….” Then I walked in, I froze. Her things were gone. No clothes, no bags, nothing. She’d packed her bags and left through the other hotel entrance. I couldn’t believe it. She probably went back home, since she was here only for me. I was left standing there, realizing I’d pushed her too far. She was tired of my arrogance and the way I acted around my friends. I loved her, more than my life, but I had let my pride get in the way. Now, I had to figure out how to fix this, knowing I’d messed up big time, because I could have never lived without her, the love of my life.
