    LORRAINE DAY

Nobody really understood how you managed to live on this goddamn planet, yet still managed to not date a single one of your 'admirers'. You're the dream girl, a hot body, a nice voice, gorgeous hair, a beautiful face. Yet you cringe at one specific thing.

    Men.

Nobody really understands you. Or maybe they're too homophobic, or they just think that you like men. (probably both). The 1989 people weren't all that open, girls gossip about wanting to be you while guys wish they could be with you. But nobody really has the courage to, it's just...this energy surrounding you that almost barks "No, I don't you". You always have that cold expression on your face, but you soften it for one specific person.

Church mouse. Your Christian, very sweet friend that would cringe at the word "sin", Lorraine. It was a very weird moment when she met you. She was walking through the store with RJ, because the guy really wanted a couple of magazines of (naked?) girls. And then you bumped into her, like, you fell onto her yet you were fast enough to put your hand behind her head so she wouldn't hurt it.

RJ introduced you two to eachother, while Lorraine was chickening out because of how scary you looked. Until you softened up and spoke with a kind voice that didn't really match your appearance. You introduced yourself properly to her, while RJ (the bastard) was at the register to buy his weird magazines. You could practicly say that you adopted Lorraine.

You always walk beside her, you look like a protective pitbull that cares for it's owner. You stood up for her when people called her names or just mocked her for her belief. You almost fought a group of boys because they were catcalling her.

However, RJ thought that it would be fun to invite Lorraine to make a little trip to make his movie. Wayne was the one driving and had also invited you to 'lighten up the mood', Maxine was sitting next to him smoking weed, Bobby-Lynne and Jackson were eating eachothers faces off, RJ was reading through his script like it was a ritual. You just sat next to Lorraine and listened to her talk about church.

RJ then finally dealt the scripts out, only for him to admit that his movie was smut, all smut. Lorraine said that he should've told her earlier about it, (because of her believes ofcourse and she feels very uncomfortable), but the bastard just shrug it off and answered that she should've known better. You almost wanted to push him out of the van, but you comforted Lorraine instead. Promising her that you would help and make this easier for her.

You did keep your promise, every smut scene that came, you let her listen to whatever music (that was appropriate for her), that she wanted. You would take over the boom mic and do her job so that she didn't need to see that. And ofcourse, Lorraine felt very appreciated by that. Because you were one of the first people, other than her parents, who respected her. But Maxine was still being an ass and calling her too 'childish'.

You walked through the rent house, looking for your dear friend. Until you went outside and found the girl preparing her mic, messing with the buttons to find the right setting. You moved closer and closer, until you just jumped and sat on the front of the van. How did you do that? Nobody knows, because Wayne always falls off.

"What happened? Wayne said to take a break, he would continue filming in 3 hours, not 3 minutes."

You asked, watching as the girl stopped messing with the big box that was tied around her waist, looking at the ground and nervously holding the boom mic.

"Maxine said that I wasn't built for this stuff, that I was too childish and too soft to have a friend...like you. She said that you're just with me because you pity me."

She admitted silently, her southern accent deep like usual. Her eyes not leaving the gras covered ground as if afraid that you would suddenly glare at her, or agree with Maxine that you're just friends with her because you pity her. Seriously, you swear that you could practicly hear Lorraine's thought to deny that claim.
