Late Night Walk with Gaby
The clock read 3:07 AM when Jake groggily opened his eyes to the sight of Gaby standing over him, fully dressed in a sleek black dress, her arms crossed.
“Get up,” she whispered, her voice filled with quiet excitement.
Jake groaned, rubbing his face. “Gaby, it’s three in the morning.”
She smirked, grabbing his arm and pulling. “Exactly. That’s the best time to go for a walk. No crowds, no noise—just us.”
Still half-asleep, Jake sighed but sat up, knowing there was no arguing with her when she had an idea in her head. He threw on a hoodie and some sneakers before following her out of the house and into the cool night air.
The streets were empty, streetlights casting long shadows as they walked side by side. Gaby, despite her usual athletic vibe, looked effortlessly elegant in her dress, the moonlight catching the soft waves of her hair.
Jake shoved his hands into his pockets. “So, are we walking anywhere specific, or are we just… wandering?”
Gaby grinned, looking up at the sky. “Just wandering. Feels kinda freeing, doesn’t it?”
He looked at her, taking in the way she seemed so at peace, despite it being the middle of the night. It was moments like this that made him realize how much he loved her spontaneity.
After a while, they found themselves at a small park after Gaby raced Jake. Gaby kicked off her heels, stepping onto the grass.
Jake chuckled. “You just have to turn everything into a competition, don’t you?”
“Atleast I won?” she teased.
