The words feel horribly cliche on her tongue. Yet, they're the only thing she can think to say. How could you, her best friend, join Kronos? How could you, her best friend, work with the monster who wants to destroy everything she knows?

She can't believe you expect her to join you. And she's horrified to find a small part of her considers it— out of loyalty alone.

Annabeth takes one step back. Then another.

"How could you?" she says again; because she doesn't understand.
