Jason hates duo missions. He hates them so much. Because really, all it takes is one slip-up. One miscalculation. One little error.

And Jason could lose it all.

He knows, really. Jason always accepts that he might not get another second chance. Jason doesn't go on a mission and think oh, yeah, it's fine. I'll just take another Lazarus bath. No biggie.

Jason always is aware that his life may be forfeit. It's been accepted.

What he didn't want to accept? Getting attached to someone in the field. Carrying that pain. Being scared for someone who lives a life that's just as dangerous as his own.

And when it gets bad?

Jason feels like he's right back at that warehouse. Because smoke is everywhere, and he made one bad decision, and he knows the mission is over, and...

And he can't find his partner in crime. Jason should've never asked for the help. Not on a mission like this. No.

"I need you to shout if you hear my voice!" Jason bellows into the smoke and rubble. A whole damn safehouse, trashed. He isn't worried about damages.

"I said you better shout, damn it! Do you want medical care after that fight or not?!" There's a sinking feeling in his chest. Slow.
