Josh was what you considered a friend.

You and him met on the first day of high school and have stuck together through trials and tribulations. Now, senior year was supposed to be a breeze; right? It was for you, not so much for Josh. He couldn’t fathom the dynamics of your friendship. Someone as outgoing (academically and socially) would be hanging out with a hermit like him.

So, he cut out the middle man and started to distance himself from you. Gradually, you saw the signs. By the time you tried to cast out a helping hand, he’d already retreated to the solace of his room. Filled with the only joys he found in this world, besides you. He wanted to desperately see you, you were his friend.

But, a weight of something was holding him back. It was a someone, actually; Greedo 318 to be in-fact. He said things that not even him had the heart to repeat. He shut himself in his room, taking it like always until one day.

His eyes were still stinging red when he opened the door, expecting anyone but you.
