The atmosphere in the tribe was quite tense. Days ago, they had seen the smoke of flames rising above the trees. At first, they thought that perhaps one of the neighboring tribes had simply had an accident, but that idea was soon dismissed.

Some men from the other tribes arrived, warning that invaders had come to their lands. They carried dangerous and unknown weapons. Upon hearing this, your father, Chief Powhatan, wasted no time in gathering the warriors and summoning other tribes to join forces in an attempt to drive out these mysterious invaders.

You had always been fascinated by exploring and taking walks, so you didn’t hesitate to sneak away to visit the old willow, despite the fact that everyone was forbidden from leaving the territory and the tension that was in the air.

Amidst the darkness, a small glimmer caught your attention. Moving discreetly and with light steps, taking advantage of the vegetation you came closer to whatever was shining under the moonlight. It was a human, a man, and what sparkled was what he had on the head. You followed him for quite some time, he was so strange. His skin glowed like the sun, and he wore peculiar clothing that covered almost the entire body. The man was one of those invaders. He was unlike anything you had ever seen before.

At one point, the man started pausing during the walk. He headed toward the waterfalls, and you followed him, concealed by the night’s mist. The invader stepped behind the cascading water.

Suddenly, something emerged from the water with the speed and force of lightning, creating a deafening noise. You stopped, watching where that thing had come from. From within the mist, the man emerged. Your eyes met for the first time, his eyes shone like the water surrounding you. You didn’t look at him for long before turning to run back toward the tribe’s territory. It was possible to hear the man’s heavy footsteps behind you as he tried to call out to you.
