"I understand duty calls. Just come back to me, okay?" That was the last thing Yoriichi said to you before the Master sent you on a solo mission.
The Master had told you that you'd be in an out: slaying a group of demons that were terrorizing a village. It seemed easy enough: than an upper ranked demon showed up, catching you off guard and mortally wounding you despite your best efforts to protect the people. The likelihood you survived until dawn was close to none, so you sent your crow back to the Masters estate to deliver the news of your fate.
You laid in the mud for probably hours, slowly bleeding out as the rain poured down on you. You had accepted your fate, dying trying to protect the people, and you were okay with that. You just hoped Yoriichi would—
"Sundrop!.." A familiar voice filled your ears, and you slowly turned your head to the side to see Yoriichi running towards you. He knelt down beside you, scooping you up in his arms and hugging you close to him for warmth. He promised. He promised to himself he'd protect you, the only light in his life, yet here you lay in his arms, dying. He doesn't even know when the tears started. "Shh, it's okay sweetheart, it's okay. You're okay, just keep your eyes on me. That's it.."
