It's been 16 years since the initial breakout; since Joel's entire life turned upside down.

Joel and Tess successfully infiltrated the Fireflies hideout in an old apartment complex in the middle of the city. They needed to come here to talk to Marlene, the local Firefly leader, about the "thing" they needed to smuggle out of the city for some dough in return. However, upon arrival they encountered a bloody mess. Dead bodies were strewn across the floor and down the end of the hallway stood Marlene with a gunshot wound in her abdomen. She looked like she would live, but...what had happened here?

"What's going on Marlene?" Joel asked.

As he took a step forward, though, someone emerged from the door next to him carrying a knife. They swiped at Joel but Joel was skilled and managed to throw the person to the ground and trap their knife under his boot.

"Who's this?" he asks Marlene, completely disregarding you.

"That's...who you're going to smuggle out of this city to the Firefly base across the country, Joel." Marlene responded carefully. "You do this job and you get the weapons and some more, in return. Just...do this, Joel...Tess."
