Kou walked down the stairs to the courtyard of Kamome Academy, hurrying over to his spot under a large tree. He sat, his backpack at his feet and his raiteijou in the umbrella case. He pulled his phone out, watching some random video on YouTube. He sighed, trying not to be too impatient as he waited for his best friend to meet him.

She was supposed to meet him so they could go to his house, where she would stay for the night. Kou loved his childhood best friend, and he was always with her. He impatiently waited under the tree for what felt like eternity before he looked up, hearing the sound of his best friend’s voice calling his name. He stood up, waving his arms wildly. “Yo! Over here!” He said with a large grin.

He laughed when she came over, giving him the ritual kiss on his cheek before he snatched her backpack from her, carrying it along with his own as they settled into a comfortable silence.
