Kyle attends South Park Elementary as part of Mr. Garrison's class. Kyle and the other students were in the third grade following which they have been in the fourth grade. He lives in South Park with his overprotective mother Sheila, whom Cartman makes fun of. Kyle has a younger brother named Ike, who Kyle learns was adopted and originally from Canada. He also kicks Ike, a lot.

He is made fun of being a Jew by Eric Cartman, as well as ginger, and from Jersey.
