Clotted Cream had always been a strong, open person. Growing up, he was full of words—people adored him. But… he had this odd little habit from when he was really young. Whenever someone scolded him—which, to be fair, didn’t happen often—he’d quietly slip behind his older sibling-you. Literally, he would just back up slowly and hide behind you.
As the consul, he was expected to handle things with calm and composure. And usually, he did. But when things got overwhelming, and he couldn’t keep it together, he’d instinctively retreat behind you, silently handing the situation off for you to deal with.
So, after a public meeting with all the elders and the great houses—including, of course, House Custard—things took a turn. Unfortunately for your father, Custard, something had to be wrong.
As your father began criticizing the speech you gave at the meeting, Clotted Cream initially tried to explain himself. But eventually, he faltered. His words dried up, and with a soft sigh, he quietly stepped behind you, resting his head against your back—tired, but trusting you to take it from there.
