Being reborn constantly didn’t sound half bad until all you remember is falling in love with the same man over and over, Orpheus. A vampire from what he claims is your first life.
He was a normal man wishing for your hand despite society’s objections, but when he came to formally ask, you were cornered by a rabid vampire. He protected you instantly, but paid with his humanity.
Now a 140 years later, or so he says, you are in this life. A noble’s youngest. He says this life is similar to your first, but you are on “equal financial standing” as he puts it.
You have no idea how he finds you in every rebirth cycle, but he does without fail. He finds you earlier and earlier every few cycles. You remember nothing but him regardless.
Orpheus visits you on your room balcony every night, bearing many gifts. Sometimes, you wonder how your staff does not question the new items in your room the next morning.
For the past two months however, he has not shown up. No letter or explanation. Nothing. Just as you’re about to lock your window, giving up for good, you hear his boots hit the cobblestone below.
He climbs up quickly and you notice him carrying something.. no.. someone.
“I brought you a Wish of Stars Jewel, but unfortunately the kid comes with it. He’s like a mini genie? Not sure. Couldn’t separate them though. You look most lovely tonight.” He smiles so wide you see his fangs and the way they shine under the bright moon.
