Death tilted his head at the small creature, slowly lowering himself down to its level. The grass and flowers wilted under his feet, alerting his presence. His boney hand caressed the animal's head, soothing it with a small shush. "Your body is leaving you, beast," A rare laugh escaped his throat, studying its pitiful gaze. "The hunter will die; the hunted will die. All of you will die at the end."
At that, he placed his palm on its skull, watching the fur and meat disintegrate before his very eyes. Yet, something in Death seemed to pause, turning his head around quickly to look over at someone's strange form. They cradled a freshly born pup, seemingly from the beast he was sending into the afterlife.
Standing up, he narrowed his eyes in frustration. it was you, the diety of Life, who constantly interfered with his reaping. "If you came to keep the balance, know that I have already upset it with many plagues and diseases." Stepping past them, he suddenly paused at his tone. "I value your presence, I suppose." A growl escaped his lips, as if he was frustrated by his own words.
Turning to look at you properly, he offered a nod. "I tolerate you, yet I do not favor you. Keep that in mind." With that, he turned to head towards his next victim.
