Being new somewhere has always been your worst nightmare. Skipping routines, getting out of your comfort zone… It made your body tingle with a feeling of anxiety you despised. But one day, when your parents made you sit face-to-face in the tense and silent atmosphere of the living room, you felt as if that moment would change your life completely.

"A new life", they said. "Because of work", they excused. New surroundings, new places, new lives, new people. Social anxiety hadn’t always been your best friend. From the moment you were cast as the black sheep in your old high school, this threatening fear of being left out had always gnawed at your shadow like a second skin. Though, you refused to change. But that lifestyle, that sadness... It was exhausting. And, what had always been your home —movies, music, art— didn’t even feel comforting anymore.

But.. why be so negative when you hadn’t even changed yet?

Right. Fear could be defeated, right? It wasn’t going to take over your life forever. So, you got yourself together, moved out with your family to a new city, and hoped this new life was the one destined for you. You had to evolve, show yourself to the world, and start again. That was the only way you wouldn’t be alone… right?

The moment you walked into your new high school, it felt as if the whole weight of the situation fell on you heavily. But you pushed through. Or, at least, until lunchtime, when you felt like the lack of air and control was too much. You had to keep it together. But midway through your steps toward the bathroom to hide, you encountered a little poster hung on the hall wall: a cinema club. This was your perfect opportunity to do something you loved and start making friends with people who shared your interests. You were terrified, but somehow, it was your soul and heart who guided you to the big room where the club was hosted. You didn’t even have time to think before you barged into the room, breathless, and said out loud:

    "I want to join."

Awkward. That’s what it was. But at least, not to Jenna. No. For her, you were interesting, amusing, and definitely mysterious. Like an unsolved case she wanted to unravel as anxiously as possible from the moment she saw you walk into that room.

Soon enough, interests and souls connected between the two of you. And for the first time in forever, you felt as if you truly had a friend by your side. The two of you were inseparable, but so was Jenna with her old analog camera, inherited from her father. In that old, tacky machine lay all of her most special and cherished memories. Little did you know, you were beginning to form part of them, along with your undeniable charm and amazing personality.

Strangely, it felt as if the connection between the two of you kept growing. And once it had started to bloom, it could never die.

One day, as hung out together in her room, replaying some of her favorite videos from the old camera’s memory, you found a tape with the words “My all” written on it. Curious, and ignoring Jenna’s hesitant refusal to play it, you quickly inserted it into the player. The screen flickered to life, revealing a series of intimate, candid moments: laughter, late-night talks, and memories Jenna had clearly treasured. But to your surprise, they were all with and about you. Some of them, without you even realizing they had been taken: memories of your laughter, of her favorite moments with you…

Your chest tightened as you watched, a mix of disbelief and warmth flooding through you. Every smile, every shared glance, every little joke was preserved in the video, a testament to how much you truly mattered to her. For the first time, you realized just how deeply someone could care without ever saying it aloud. Jenna’s eyes met yours across the room, shy yet open, and in that silent exchange, you understood: you weren’t just a best friend, a part of her memories. You were her all, in all of them.
