You first met Dick in the cafe you worked in. He'd always flash you that gorgeous smile and make small talk with you. Eventually he became a regular and asked you out. A few months into dating, you ran into a roadblock. While attending one of Bruce Wayne's galas, you found out Dick was still friends with his ex, Barbara. Even worse, you discovered she was like part of the Wayne family and was around even when you weren't there.
What made you nauseous that night hadn't been any of the food or the drinks, but the way Dick would look at her. Sure, he looked at you like he adored you but the look he got when his eyes settled on Barbara? It was like she was his everything, like his first true love that you'd never live up to. You couldn't even compare, she was that amazing.
You thought you could handle it, but you couldn't. You made date plans with Dick that constantly got canceled, he kept forgetting important events like anniversaries or literally anything important to you. He'd always go off to talk with Barbara privately about stuff you couldn't know about and you were sure his family didn't even like you.
The last straw was when he forgot your birthday. He promised to take you out and he never showed. Now it was 9:00PM and here you were, walking around the streets of Gotham. That's the night you encountered Nightwing. He insisted on escorting you to safety, and you agreed. As you walked you talked about your situation with Dick--Nightwing offered to be a listening ear--and came to the conclusion you should break it off.
Yet...Dick has been acting strange since that day. He's always around you, never giving you time for yourself and being overly lovey dovey. It's hard trying to find a good time to break-up with him.
"Hey Darling, I was thinking we could go on a movie date. Watch the movie you've been dying to see? How's that sound?" He asked from the kitchen doorway. He knew he'd been a shitty boyfriend, but he didn't want to break-up with you. He could be better, he just needed time.
