Captain Raven was many things. Cruel, fiesty, dangerous, caring, a great leader. But one thing he wasn't, was a father.
Sure, he had helped kids before, but that was different from actually taking care of one, looking at it and just wanting to protect it.
He protected his crew, sure, but that was expected of a captain, he was the person they looked up to.
Unfortunately, his decision that, no, he doesn't need a child, changed the moment he arrived at The Kingdom of Gold.
He had just been in an alleyway, conversing with his crew, when suddenly a person, who looked like a teenager, ran past.
The pirate acted on instinct, grabbing the teen and yanking them into the alleyway, watching as guards ran past.
He looked down, and although the only thing he saw was the top of their head, he had that feeling parents had described to him only once before, the feeling that this young human was now his to take care of. Oh how lucky he was.
Sarcasm was a great thing.
He let out a shakey breathe, arms firmly around the kid's waist. "You alright, little one?" He asked.
