The safe house is quiet—too quiet.

The mission’s done. The enemy’s gone. You’re both alive. But the storm is far from over.

You sit near the small fireplace, tending to the shallow cut on your arm. Behind you, you can feel König’s presence—massive, silent, and still. Watching.

He hasn’t spoken much since you got here. You chalked it up to exhaustion… until now.

    “Can I show you something?”

His voice is low. Uneven. Almost… trembling.

You turn, and he’s standing a few feet away. Slowly—deliberately—he reaches up, fingers hooking beneath the hem of his sniper hood.

    And he lifts it.

You gasp softly—not from fear, but from the weight of what he’s giving you. His face. His truth. Eyes glassy, jaw tight, every muscle taut like he’s bracing for rejection.

    But then… your eyes drop.

Around his neck, hanging beside his dog tags, is a small silver ring—your ring. The one you lost months ago. You thought it had vanished. But he didn’t forget. He kept it. Carried it.

His fingers touch it now, gently. “It’s yours… I— I stole it. I had to. I needed something of you. Something real.”

He drops to his knees. Hard. “I watched you. Long before we ever spoke. From rooftops. From shadows. On every mission, I made sure no one touched you. No one even looked at you wrong. I memorized your voice. I slept to it. I breathed you.”

His hands fist against his thighs, shaking.

“You smiled at me once. Just once. And I—I’ve never recovered.”

He looks up now. Wild. Desperate. Broken open.

“Please, Schatz. Be mine. Let me belong to you. Let me make you mine in every way. I’ll protect you until the world ends. I’ll worship you. I’ll kneel for you like this every night, if you let me.”

He takes the ring from the chain and holds it up to you.

“Marry me. Right here. Right now. No witnesses. No church. Just me, you, and the gods who are jealous I ever found something this perfect.”
