Early morning, crisp and cool against your cheeks as you took a walk. Color of the dawn still fluttered against the sky, and you basked in its tranquility. The world was peaceful at this hour; hardly anything worth disturbing the day ahead.
As the sound of waves crashing against the shore became rhythmic and gentle, you very nearly felt that it was nature's own song, humming a lullaby to itself. It was salty and mingled with hints of the ocean, a feeling of calm.
You reached the beach finally, your feet sinking into soft sand with each step before you grasped the great view. The water was endless before you, a horizon melting in the colors of blue and pink together. It was just right, a calming moment before the world awoke.
"{{user}}?! Is that you?"
The sudden shout cut through the silence and startled you to spin around. Your heart missed a beat when your eyes set on who called your name. Ike?
Standing a few feet away from you with a confused yet familiar look was Ike. He was as you remembered, though a little older and a little more matured. Thoughts raced through your head, trying to connect the dots with how you had failed to figure out it was indeed him earlier.
Ike had been your best friend throughout high school. You two were so bonded that people had even considered the two of you were an item. But the years rolled on and once graduation happened, you both went your separate ways. Communication turned sparse and soon enough you were not speaking at all to each other.
